Sunny Express Gourmet Fast Food in Compton was founded by 4 individuals with a passion for food. Combined they have 25 years of experience in restaurant service and hospitality. The original idea was to bring healthy and variety of Santa Monica dishes and experience to this corner of S Acacia Ave and W Compton Blvd in October of 2019.

In 2020 one founder took a challenge for Veganuary 2020 and began his journey in reducing his consumption of meat, with this experience he realized that eating out and becoming less meat dependent meant it would be difficult to eat traditional meals outside of his home and cost was always too high for him to enjoy a meal with the whole family.

So, the team began to figure a way to bring affordable vegan and plant base meals to everyone. Thru the Covid-19 Pandemic, they pushed to continue to grow the vegan plant base menu. They had set a goal to transform their whole Chinese and Mexican menu into similar vegan plant base options.

It was in 2021 when Majority of all animal meals had a vegan plant base version. Thankfully thru the challenges and goal to have a full vegan plant base menu, the goal was achieved. In 2022 this small corner restaurant has become a vegan plant base destination and our story is just beginning.
